A Record of Failure, Wear, and Loss
From the Book of Bricks
Chapter 1 — Of the Fading of Color
1:1 And it came to pass that the bricks of brown were once strong and pleasing to the eye.
1:2 They bore weight, held clutch, and served faithfully in walls and roofs.
1:3 But the sun looked upon them for many seasons, and they were not shielded.
1:4 Their color faded, and their strength departed quietly.
1:5 No crack was seen at first, nor warning given.
1:6 And the builders rejoiced still, not knowing the decay within.
1:7 Thus begins the sorrow of Brittle Brown, whose fall is slow and unseen.
Chapter 2 — Of Neglect and Unheeded Counsel
2:1 Warnings were given in the manuals, yet many did not read.
2:2 Storage was careless, and heat was allowed to linger.
2:3 Pieces were left exposed upon shelves near windows.
2:4 And the builders said, “It has endured thus far; surely it will endure again.”
2:5 But endurance delayed is not endurance promised.
2:6 For the laws of plastic are patient, but they do not forget.
2:7 Neglect bore fruit, and the fruit was fracture.
Chapter 3 — Of Reckless Disassembly
3:1 And there were those who disassembled without care or reverence.
3:2 They twisted where they should have lifted.
3:3 They pried where they should have separated gently.
3:4 And Brittle Brown cried out, though no sound was heard.
3:5 Pieces shattered in the hand, and studs were lost forever.
3:6 And sorrow entered the sorting bins of the faithful.
3:7 For that which once held firm now returned only fragments.
Chapter 4 — Of Mourning and Regret
4:1 The builders gathered the remains and spoke softly among themselves.
4:2 “This part is no longer made,” they said, “and cannot be replaced.”
4:3 They searched drawers and markets, yet found no equal.
4:4 Displays were altered, and builds diminished.
4:5 Gaps were filled with substitutes, though none matched truly.
4:6 And the memory of what was lost lingered longer than expected.
4:7 Thus Brittle Brown became a lesson rather than a piece.
Chapter 5 — Of Remembrance and Wisdom
5:1 Let this lamentation be read with humility.
5:2 For the purpose of sorrow is instruction.
5:3 And the memory of loss teaches care to future hands.
5:4 Protect the bricks from sun and heat.
5:5 Disassemble with patience and proper tools.
5:6 Respect the age of the elements, for time changes all things.
5:7 Thus the fall of Brittle Brown shall not be in vain,
5:8 If the faithful learn, preserve, and build with foresight.
